This old beauty once belonged to a local doctor.

Isn't it gorgeous? I looked it up on line and Mr. Typewriter refers to the Remington 16 as the last of the great old Remingtons.
It is obviously a business/office typewriter with it's Pounds Sterling key, the Rx key, and the special number keys across the top, "." "1" "10" "100" "1000"

The typist who used these old machines must have had really strong fingers. They are hard to type on. My Dad had an ancient one that he used forever and I remember trying to type on it.
It is a fabulous piece, big and beautiful. I love old typewriters as well, I have one in the French cottage and one here in the UK. If only the ribbons weren't so difficult to get hold of.......
