Guess What I Did Today?

Joshua, my consummate yard-saler son, always looking for sales that list tools and other mechanical devices only men would want, was up early to check out a couple listed not far from our house. Then Jacob and Meaghan said they wanted to come. I wasn't planning to go anywhere, but in the end, I joined them. After all, it was beautiful out and we would be back in time to open the shop and I surely wouldn't find anything I wanted as I am feeling a little overwhelmed by all the projects I have going on right now. Uh, did you notice the terrific baskets in the photo above? Fifty cents each and finally after one of those husband/wife discussions you couples out there may be familiar with, they were mine! (He really shouldn't even bother asking after all these years.)
The boys will attest to the fact that I have been looking high and low for neat little jars, with lids, to fill with mica flakes and glass glitter for the shop. There was a time you could find them in great variety at the dollar stores but not anymore. Well, I found some, along with two boxes of little drawers perfect for storing those odd little bits that don't qualify for their own box. There are more jars of the same type but they are currently in the dishwasher getting all sparkley again.
This trophy appealed to me as it is generous enough to put something in it and there wasn't a whole bunch of writing on it. It is engraved with "Best In Show" and at the bottom is the Canadian Kennel Club emblem. The things hanging of the handles are rings of glass tubes likely from some elaborate lamp. There are five rings of them.
Along with my favourite treasure, a large tin of old buttons, I got a big box of old slides, some of them glass, the silhouette, a plumb-bob and the funkiest slide projector I've ever seen. It only holds two slides at a time, but look at those lines! Well, my day of fun is coming to an end and it is almost time to figure out what to feed everyone for dinner.
Tomorrow, however it will not be my concern at all. Have a Happy Mother's Day!

what great finds you got for your store! I love the way you do things... just picking out and selling such odds and ends that are absolutely perfect for crafting. Everytime i see more hauls you got for your store, i am more determined to swing by in person to check things out if i am ever in the area. Fabulous stuff there!

I also love the little glass jars. They are perfect for keeping lavender within.
