Circus Fun

The Barnum and Bailey sign is from a train set and when hooked up correctly, there is a light and it whistles.  The picture on the front is paper. The paper drum on the left holds a cake decoration set in the circus theme.  The monkey is son number one's tin bank by Chein.

I tucked in a few circus themed Valentine's this year.

Another bank by Chein sits on a chair. The clown party umbrellas in original packaging on the left were a gift from a friend.

The Chicks Are In This Easter Weekend

I pulled out my stash of antique Easter postcards.

I see a trend here. I seem to prefer the ones with chickens. If I recall correctly,                                      the card with the rabbit was one of my first eBay purchases, long ago.

                                                              Another chicken

This was a more recent find.  I love that it is not glass.

These little cuties arrived on Thursday.  They grow fast
and do not stay this darling for long.

Couch Cuddlers

We said good bye to these two in mid February. Seems so long ago. They sure would have enjoyed having all their people at home all the time during this closed-in period of life.  Gumdrop was 16, Odelia, behind, 13.

Random Busyness

Well, that went by quickly! It didn't seem like much of a summer really. The garden went in late so the produce is late too.

When I stopped by Homestead Organics in Morrisburg this week I was greeted by a flock of geese crossing the road.  They were on a mission.

From inside you can see the geese enjoying all the apples that have fallen to the ground.

There have been visits with friends, and long chats by the water.

                                                               A "stylish molt."

Finding a quiet and sunny spot to nestle in.

The end of a long day. Never enough hours to get it all done.

Fledgling Bluebird in the Wood Stove

I could hear the rustling in the wood stove but could not see the bird. Eventually the little fellow found its way into the box and I was able to retrieve him. A little dusty, but after some water and being set outside, it was gone.  I hope it finds a better place to roost than our chimney from now on.

Morning Visitor

I spotted this lovely swallowtail in my front garden this morning.

It never really stopped flitting about so getting a good picture was hard.

                                                                          Enjoy!

I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend.

The Fledgling

A robin found our front porch roof a good place to build a nest this year. It was a treat this morning to notice one of that nest's occupants was ready to "fly the coop."  Just sitting there, surveying his options.

The mother flew back at one point, poked him on the back twice and left.  Perhaps she was saying "Get moving!"

                                                     Still thinking about it.

Perhaps a different angle will help.

                                                    And jump! Fly!

Can you see his little tail, near the lower left corner.

From his perch, he flew down to the propane stove.    "Stop watching me! You are making me nervous!"

And off he went into a nearby shrub.  Mother was nearby, watching.

Tree Blooms, Ground Birds, and Picking Rocks

The trees are blooming and things smell lovely here. The decorative crab apple looks lush.

The ancient pear looks ready for a wedding!

Lilacs are the best part of spring!

                                             Ancient apple trees all abloom.

Our little orchard. This is its third summer.  Looking forward to some fruit over the next few years. There are peaches, plums, cherries, assorted apples, blueberries, raspberries, and more.

The chickens are pretty happy to be digging in the garden.

They are not even bothered by the tractor! Of course, IT is uncovering all manner of treats for them.

A couple of birds found their way to the old manure pile. Lots of goodies to scratch up there.

In between the raised beds, this pair pretty much disappears in the leaves

The new rock pile. Those were some big rocks!

Here are the treasures unearthed.  The license plate is dated 1929. I took this after dusk so it looks weird.

We have these hinges in the house.

Thanks for dropping by.
