Golden Workshop

I'm sorry to not have posted sooner but my days have been so full of other necessities. Today you get two posts.
Earlier this week I was able to participate in Aaron's Mixed Media class as they were having a Golden Paints Rep. in for a workshop. It was three hours of hands-on fun with samples of their mediums and paints. We learned a lot about the manufacture and high standards they have for their products and also got to take home samples! Did you know that they hire students to do their colour sample cards and that every one of the swatches is hand applied. There are the initials of the person who did that particular page on each sheet.
We also came away with a 16x20 canvas of our own samples of various mediums. We applied things like fibre paste, aluminum gel medium, acrylic paint colours, pastel ground, black mica gel medium, molding paste, soft and heavy, crackle medium, liquid tar (my favourite), and more. The purple splotch next to the liquid tar is an interference colour. It changes in the light, depending on the angle you look at it. They come in a variety of colours. We also did a molding paste transfer.
I had an empty space on my board and added the six smaller swatches at home, using copper gel, gold mica flake, iron oxide, glass bead gel, coarse pumice, and aluminum oxide gel. It was a very nice afternoon and so nice to see all the other things you can do with Golden mediums.

Lucky you!!! This looks like so much fun. Getting the chance to play with Golden Paints and one of you boys sounds ideal to me. Loved the canvas you did too.
