All Kinds Of Inspiration

Well, I guess there is no avoiding it any further. Christmas is around the corner and I am about six weeks behind in my usual preparations. So, in the interest of saving my own sanity, I am going to try to simplify some of my usual activities for the holidays. A little less baking is a good start. A little less decorating is a good start too. While Denise was here she helped me put up the garlands in the dining room and along the stairs. They are my favourite part of the winter season. Nothing like getting cozy with all the lights off but them, wood stove burning away, hot cider in hand.

I purchased this from French Larkspur and it arrived just the other day. I had read about Jeanne D'Arc Living and how everyone seemed to love this European publication. When I heard that an English edition was available what better time to check it out than Christmas. It's all I read and more. I was transported.


A very recent find was a four foot aluminum Christmas tree. As the branches are inserted individually, I was able to place it on the kitchen window sill and just add the branches to the front and sides. The vintage tin pail was found at Goodwill a couple of years ago. I think it looks perfect the way it is and wont be adding any ornaments to it.
I hopped over to Mrs. McGarrigles in Merrickville to pick some Christmas gifts and came across these interesting crisp breads. I love cinnamon and decided to treat myself. They are wonderful! I love the way they are wrapped too.
Time to get out the ornaments and make a short baking list.
