Sabbath Toys

Sabbath toys or Sunday toys were a popular Victorian item for children to play with on the day of rest, the Sabbath. They often reflected bible stories and were to keep your mind on higher things while keeping restless hands busy. There were also many books created just for Sunday reading.
This Noah's ark is from the early 1900s. The lid flips up and inside you find all your animals.
These sweeties are obviously not to scale. The pigs are almost bigger than the horses and get a look at that ladybug and duck! I'd say that they are all rendered very nicely though as nothing is more than an inch long.
The perfect size for this wooden baby doll by Schoenhut. She sits at only nine inches tall.

Have a great weekend. Enjoy that spring weather!

So adorable! I have sold a Noah's Ark before, and it wasn't as lovely as yours!
