Well, much as I am appreciating the good driving weather, these temps hovering just above freezing are keeping us in perpetual autumn. Inside the lights sparkle in the evenings and the tree holds the gifts beneath, waiting for when the family will gather to share.
I guess, if you grew up with snow and winter weather during the Christmas season it just doesn't feel the same without it.
Understand, it wont be too long, I think, before we'll be cursing the snow and icy roads, longing for the first signs of spring. In the meantime, there is still a lot of stuff still growing and thriving, like this fungus on a dead tree.

These photos of the fungus are amazing. They almost look abstract at the angle you captured them. Beautiful structures.
