Captured Moments

This Praying Mantis is a far cry happier looking than one a couple years ago which was brown due to the drought we had.

Our meaty birds are getting bigger but still need to finish growing in all their feathers.  they are fun to watch as the scratch about in the grass.

A long line of mushrooms beneath the pine tree.

                                                   Lovely against the needles.

                                                              Another grand fungus.

                                                    A peek beneath.  Beautiful!

We came home on the weekend to find this Wild Turkey casually grazing in the yard.

Inside, I have been trying my hand at Komboucha.  Last night Aaron had some friends over for dinner and we opened up the bottles that were ready to drink.  Delicious and sparkling!  In the photo above, the first jar is komboucha starter, a little komboucha and the SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) which looks like a jellyfish.  Behind that large jar is a fresh batch waiting for the starter and SCOBY  to be added and to age for a week in a warm quiet room.  The three bottles are the finished beverage flavoured with blueberries, raspberries and pure cranberry juice.  It was a hit!  You can watch a video on how to make it here.
