Weekend Workshop

Last weekend I took a collage workshop at the community college. It was interesting and the best part was that I was able to create three pieces of art! Something there isn't much time for at home! The first is just black gesso on a canvas board with applied copies of Degas' work, some old sheet music and a stamped image in the corner. I softened the skirts of the dancers with gesso and brushed cheesecloth with gel medium to create a 3D effect on the image of the sculpture. The other piece is of Degas' "The Tub". I printed it on acetate and attached it to a stretched canvas. Then, from my envelope of blue handmade papers, I carefully tore long strips and applied them to the canvas to create a frame. I tried to stay true to the colours of the water in the painting. I love the result!
