CRAFT:

I was at the grocery store (where else does a *M.O.M. of three teen sons hang out?!) the other day and while perusing the magazines I noticed something I'd never seen before. It is called "CRAFT:" and it is a small-scaled magazine jam-packed with inspiration and articles on people doing unusual things along with neat ideas for stuff we can do ourselves.
There was a feature-ette on a designer who makes exquisite gowns and dresses out of condoms (didn't even know they came in so many colours!), a woman who paints rocks that you would swear were the real thing. There is a little bit of everything going on here. Make a Wi-Fi plushie, design your own lamp, create a personalised street art T-shirt, knit a little, stitch up finger puppets with LEDs and much more. They discuss the art of making and using pinhole cameras too. I was most intrigued by the article on hikaru dodordango or shining mud balls. Beautiful! It comes with a hefty price tag though at $18 for an issue. Check it out for yourself at craftzine.com
