Denise is on her way back home on the train. We had five glorious days of watching old Christmas movies, eating chocolate covered cherries, Chinese food, and shopping! I even got her company and help rolling out Peppernuts ( for those of you who don't make these tiny cookies, they are a tedious task, but well-loved by all who eat them). It was a lovely and much-needed break from the demands of life and Christmas prep. Thanks Denise for everything!
The wooden shoes above were something I gold-leafed years ago and turned into my version of "Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod" my favourite children's poem. An antique silk jabot is the sail.
Tomorrow the boys are back to school and I will return to the kitchen to make more cookies and catch up in the laundry department. Lots to do and not much time left to get it done. The Christmas Turducken has arrived as well, so that takes care Christmas dinner.
