A Sudden and Surprising Weekend

On the spur of the moment, our youngest son offered us a weekend away, at our favourite spot to visit in the whole world. The cottage. I've been going there since I was six months old and it had been four years since our last visit. By Friday at three we were on the road in very hot and very windy weather. It's only an hour away but by the time we arrived we were pretty tired and windblown, without the benefit of air conditioning. Once we crossed the log bridge, the temperature dropped and the breeze was anything but oppressive. We were there! Although the ski was grey we were treated to a mother Loon and four young followers traversing the waters in front of our cabin.
It did eventually rain all night long and much of Saturday but that was okay. We had no plans but to relax and rest. We listened to music and read and walked in the rain, in the water and enjoyed simple yet luxurious meals of lamb and garden veggies. We wandered around Perth for part of the afternoon and headed back for more R&R.
By the end of Saturday things were clearing up and the sun began to shine. Sunday we woke to a gorgeous morning. We took our time getting home, stopping in Merrickville.

The last photo in particular made we want to head north. I'm glad you had a great weekend.
