The Hyde Collection

After our visit the the Spring Fling in Saratoga Springs, Marty and I head over to Fort Edward to our motel. They had a binder of places to see, things to do and the like and I found a reference to a wonderful private collection of art nearby. "The Hyde Collection" museum. A little quick searching on my little iPod (thank goodness for wifi!) revealed that it closed at five and we have forty-five minutes to get there and look around! We found it easily enough and had a good twenty minutes to look around. It cost us each $8 to get in and was worth every penny. I would head back again just to visit this astounding collection of art by the old masters and the exquisite furnishings in this home.
This sculpture greets you when you arrive.
They didn't have a book available of the collection but I was able to pick up this little booklet that outlines the family who acquired these special works and their life and place in the Glen Falls community. All I can say is that it was the icing on the cake of our visit! For a brief history this family go here.
Driving through town I had Marty stop so I could get a shot of this old building with the writing on it. I saw so many wonderful sites but it is very hard to capture them when you are traveling on a highway or there is a lot of traffic around.
This was an unusual fountain I saw as we wove our way through town.
And then we were off, looking for a place to grab a bite to eat before we crashed for the night.
