Rainy Days

As seen near the post office yesterday. I am not a hug fan of tulips but these are the loveliest I have seen.

Oh, so very fragrant, a white lilac.

Golden Days Of Summer

We were fortunate to get some fresh corn from friends recently.

                                                   BEST corn ever! Delicious.

I was going to give the cobs to the chickens for them to enjoy but then came across a recipe for corn cob jelly.

So I made some. Just because you can. The chickens were still thrilled with their twice boiled corn cobs.

I also had purchased some fresh pineapples. I wanted to try my hand at Tepache, a fermented pineapple beverage. It is made using the pineapple skin.

With the fresh fruit inside I made some pineapple-lime jam. It was a success.

There was still some fruit left and I came across a recipe for a pineapple casserole. Well, it "looked" interesting however it was not so tasty. Sad face. Five cups of pineapple wasted. Well, not all new things are destined to become "new" favourites, are they?

I hope that your week is off to a good start.

Garden Joy

                                                       Who doesn't love a sunflower?

Signs Of Autumn

You can tell the season is changing again. Seems summer was here for but a moment. Always the way when you are super busy.
I found this great heart shaped potato in my basket from Roots Down.

Crab apples awaiting some sort of recipe from Hall's in Brockville.

My sunflowers are starting to die off and the blue jays are back.

I spotted our resident porcupine in our apple tree.

Always the first tree to begin to change in our yard.

                                                     Cool, misty mornings.

A Pictorial Tour Of Upper Canada VIllage

A week ago Joshua, Nichole and I went to Upper Canada Village.  It is a lovely time of year to see it as it isn't too hot.  There were hundreds of people there, even though that particular day was rainy, damp and cold.  It was still a great day.  We took the short train ride.  Below are pics from our wanderings about.

If you've never been, it is so worth the visit.  It's a lovely way to pass the day.  Bring a picnic.

Think Spring!

Things are starting to seriously melt outside now. There are lovely mud puddles all over the place!

I picked up a generous bouquet of flowers at the grocery store- in the half price bucket.  They just screamed spring to me. Yes, they looked very lush all gathered together in one bouquet but I like to put them in my collection of green bottles in the kitchen.
I'm looking forward to signs of life in the garden soon.

I found these lovely spring-themed cookie cutters at Goodwill last weekend.
How are you cheering on spring?
